Change, as science reminds us, is one of the only constants in the universe. Just as we start to feel comfortable, something changes. Because of this change is often associated with uncertainty, and as a result, we often feel anxious about change.
I am creating this blog because of the change Har Sinai is about to undergo with my arrival. I am doing this as a means to help alleviate fears and concerns, as well as to give you some insight into who I am and how I view our potential to grow together. For as many of us already know, change isn't necessarily a bad thing. What matters more is how we grow, and learn, and allow ourselves to become transformed as well.
In the upcoming weeks and months you will see blog posts covering a wide variety of topics. Some of them will overlap with my other blog: rhythmguitarrabbi.blogspot.com. Others will be ideas unique to this particular forum.
You are always welcome to add your comments and/or contact me directly as well.
Joy, Emily, Noah and I are eagerly awaiting our arrival in Owings Mills and we are very much looking forward to meeting all of you and getting to know you.
Until then, I wish you a very happy and healthy start to your New Year, and I will post again soon. Stay tuned.
In the meantime there is a fascinating Op-ed by David Brooks in the New York times I think is a very good read :
The Tel Aviv Cluster.
Rabbi Sharff: Welcome, we are very excited to have you join our community. As this is a small world, I grew up in Tucson and my Dad, Arthur Oleisky is the retired Rabbi "up the road" at Anshei Israel. We were just in Tucson over Thanksgiving & had a great time. I'm part of our marketing committee and working with others to grow our social media. Very good of you to write the Blog! Looking forward to meeting you and your family. Be well, Jonathan
ReplyDeleteHi Rabbi, Joy, Emily and Noah. We would like to invite you for dinner when you arrive in June. Jay and I have two granddaughters, 6 and 3. Our home is still babyproofed and we do a mean barbecue (or I will actually cook if you prefer)! We are looking forward to you joining our Har Sinai family and will see you soon.

ReplyDeleteWelcome to Har Sinai. My family is looking forward to meeting you! I read your open letter to Pat Robertson and you are spot on. Robertson is a good example of an individual that has learned the secrets of grass roots leadership. Unfortunately those that continue to follow him are not living in the 21st century.

Having just returned from a Caribbean Cruise to snow and now it has been predicted that we are going to experience a major storm this weekend, I am beginning to understand why people move to Arizona or Florida. We look forward to seeing you again in April and then having the opportunity to welcome you to Baltimore in late June.
ReplyDeleteOur regards to Joy and we look forward to meeting your children.
